Xiaobin Han

Dr. Xiaobin Han is an Assistant Professor in the department of Physiology. He received his MD from Harbin Medical University, P.R. China, in 1985, his PhD in Biochemistry and Nutrition from the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, P.R. China, in 1991, and his MBA from the University of Tennessee in 2006. Dr. Han joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2018 as part of Dr. Sun’s lab.

Ali Fouad Bonna

Ali Fouad Bonna is a researcher in the Department of Physiology, UTHSC. He is a PhD candidate at Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, where he obtained his Master’s Degree, specializing in Stem Cells Biology. Ali Joined Prof. Dr. Sun’s lab at UTHSC in 2024

Lynn Aung

Dr. Lynn Aung is a Postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physiology. She received her MBBS from University of Medicine Mandalay, Myanmar, in 2008 and her PhD in Cardiology from Guangxi Medical University, P.R. China, in 2014, and her MEng in Bioinformatics from University of Illinois, U.S.A, in 2019.

Youngin Kwon

Dr. Youngin Kwon is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physiology. She received her PH.D. from the Department of Physiology, Medical Sciences, Yonsei University in 2021, specializing in Vascular Physiology. She joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2021, and Dr. Sun’s lab in 2022.

Siyu Shao

Ms. Siyu Shao is a Ph.D. graduate student at UTHSC. She received her Master’s Degree in Neurology from Capital Medical University, P.R. China, in 2022. Ms. Shao joined Dr. Sun’s lab at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2023.

Rofaida Gaballa 

Dr. Rofaida Gaballa is a postdoctoral associate at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she conducts research in vascular biology, aging, and exosome-mediated cell communication. She earned both her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Beni-Suef University, Egypt. As part of a prestigious joint mission program, she conducted the experimental portion of her doctoral research at Texas A&M University, gaining advanced training in molecular biology, proteomics, and vascular physiology.

Hongfang Pan

Hongfang Pan is a technician in the Department of Physiology. She received her B.S from Peking University, P.R. China. Ms.Pan joined Dr. Sun’s lab at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2023.

Ann Centner

Dr. Ann Centner completed her Ph.D. in Nutrition Sciences at Florida State University (FSU) in 2022, where she studied the effects of smoking and vaping on atherosclerosis. She holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in Consumer Foods and Food Science and Technology from the University of Georgia. After a postdoctoral fellowship at FSU investigating arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, she joined Dr. Sun’s lab at UTHSC in 2024 to study how retrotransposable elements influence cardiovascular function and disease mechanisms.
